Why I love marketing

Why do I do what I do?

Wow, that’s deep. But for my first blog post and it being Valentine’s Day I thought I’d write about what I love and do. I think it’s a question most of us always ask ourselves.

So you’ve probably gathered that I’m a Marketer and as you may know, Marketers rule the world (hahaha, evil laugh, stroking a white cat!!!). You think I’m joking, I’m serious (well apart from the cat, I don’t like cats). Look around you and you’ll see that you’re being touched by marketing and marketers everywhere. Marketing follows you around wherever you go, especially nowadays with this thing we all use called the internet.

As someone who’s passionate about what I do, I love that there’s so many channels now to get products and services out to people who you would never have been able to even as short a time as 20 years ago. And therein lies one of the many challenge of marketing - getting your message out there…COMMUNICATING with people.

Without the right communication to the right people at the right time, it doesn’t matter if you have the best product or service in the world. If I don’t hear about it, know anything about it, stands to reason I’m probably not going to buy it.

So back to the question, “why do I do what I do?” It’s because I love the challenges marketing brings. And with challenges, there are accomplishments and when you achieve those accomplishments you feel good….actually you tend to feel great. I mean when you manage to really connect with customers, clients, people and drive up engagement, leads, sales, it’s an amazing feeling because you know the strategy and tactics and hard work has come to fruition and doing what you thought it would.

For me, professionally, it’s such a great feeling knowing that I’ve helped someone, helped a business achieve more, reach more people, to grow. Sometimes the wins are small, like tweaks to letters which make a customers journey with a business smoother. Other wins are big like organising successful international events and product launches. Big or small wins, each have their own unique challenges to overcome.

The feeling of helping people, helping businesses grow and hit their goals, is a massive driver for me and why I offer my services as a marketing consultant, so that I can be available to those people who are looking for some help, a different pair of eyes, who can bring knowledge to the table which will help them break through whatever barriers they’re facing and move forward.

So, yeah, that’s why I do what I do. I could go on some more but I think you get the gist of what I’m saying and if not, get in touch and I’ll happily explain some more.

Love to hear why you guys do what you do. Please share your passion.

All the best folks.
